Service & Ordeal Committee
This committee is responsible for working with the Lodge leadership
in developing both community and scouting service projects.
Some responsibilities include:
- Preparing a list of service projects to be presented at the OPC.
- Coordinating with the service project beneficiary or Council
Properties Superintendent for proper planning and implementation of
project.
- Ensuring that all equipment, materials, and monies are acquired
for service projects.
- Providing permits or paperwork for the project have been
submitted or produced (blueprints, easements, BSA Tour Permits, etc).
- The Chair serves as the chair of the Ordeal Planning Conference.
- Keeping accurate records of service provided by the Lodge.
- Providing an Ordealmaster for each Ordeal.
- Coordinating with the Council Properties Superintendent, kitchen
staff, Elangomat, Brotherhood, and Ceremonies Committees to ensure that
Ordeals run smoothly.
- Overseeing the OA Service Hours at summer camp.
- Providing service projects and materials for Founder's Day.
- Keeping the Lodge informed of their activities via reports at LEC
meetings and articles for Turtle Soup.
A member of the Service & Ordeal committee should attend Lodge
events and all OPC and LEC meetings.
Elangomat Committee

This committee enlists and provides Elangomats for Ordeals.
Some responsibilities include:
- Providing trained Elangomats for each Ordeal.
- Coordinating with the Ordealmaster and Ceremonies committees to
provide a quality Ordeal experience by ensuring that clans are provided
with food, tools, and other necessary materials, coordinating service
projects performed by clans, and working with the Ceremonies team.
- Assembling the Spirit of the Arrow pamphlets before and during
Ordeals, and assembling orientation packets (handbooks, flaps, cards,
etc) for new members.
- Assisting in welcoming new members at recognition time on Sunday
morning.
- Holding training sessions at Lodge events and when requested by
Chapters.
- Keeping the Lodge informed of their activities via reports at LEC
meetings and articles for Turtle Soup.
A member of the Elangomat committee should attend all LEC meetings,
the OPC, Ordeals and other committee events.
Brotherhood Committee

The Brotherhood committee actively promotes Brotherhood conversions
with a goal to encourage the maximum amount of brothers to seal their
membership and remain active after their Ordeal.
Some responsibilities include:
- The planning, organization and coordination of Brotherhood
conversion opportunities.
- The enlistment and training of Nimats for conversions.
- Coordinating with the Ceremonies Chair to ensure that
ceremonialists are available for scheduled conversions and that
brotherhood ceremonies are performed correctly.
- Keeping the Lodge informed of their activities via reports at LEC
meetings and articles for Turtle Soup.
A member of the Brotherhood committee should attend all LEC
meetings, OPC meetings, Ordeals and other Brotherhood conversion events.
Vigil Selection Committee
This committee selects recipients for the Vigil Honor.
Some responsibilities include:
- Holding a meeting annually to consider possible candidates and
select Vigil Honorees and appropriate and meaningful Vigil Names.
- Completing all necessary paperwork for recipients of the Vigil
Honor.
- Coordinating with the Ceremonies Committee to provide a
meaningful Vigil ceremony for recipients of the Honor and for Vigil
Rededications.
- Coordinating with the Ordeal and Service Committee to ensure that
service projects and materials are available for Founder's Day.
- Recommending Vigil projects for consideration by the LEC.
- Keeping the Lodge informed of their activities via reports at LEC
meetings and articles for Turtle Soup.
A member of the Vigil Selection committee should attend Lodge
events and all LEC meetings.
Ceremonies Committee

This committee oversees all ceremonial operations of the Lodge and
insures proper usage of all symbols, dress, traditions, etc., of the
Native American culture at Lodge events. The committee chair or his
designee will maintain all Lodge ceremonial regalia and equipment.
Some responsibilities include:
- Assisting units, chapters and the Lodge in proper representation
of Native American traditions.
- Following the Guide to Inductions.
- Performing practice sessions as necessary for the dual purpose of
performing quality ceremonies and recruiting new members.
- Coordinating with the Ordealmaster, Elangomat, and Brotherhood
committees to ensure that quality ceremonies are performed at Ordeals
and other Lodge events.
- Representing the spirit of our Lodge at Section Conclaves,
NOAC's, and other events.
- Keeping the Lodge informed of their activities and broadcasting
opportunities for brothers to join the ceremonies team via LEC reports
and articles for Turtle Soup.
Committee members should attend Lodge events and all Lodge
ceremonies, and the committee should be represented at LEC meetings,
and the OPC.
American Indian Affairs Committee

This committee helps to insure proper stewardship of accurate Native
American traditions at Lodge events. The team acts as a public
relations and educational instrument for the Lodge. The committee chair
or his designee will maintain all Lodge drums and related equipment.
Some responsibilities include:
- Presenting accurate interpretations of Native American drumming
traditions and techniques.
- Representing and publicizing the Lodge and the OA at council
events.
- The committee acts as a resource for chapters to use in order to
enhance their ability to relate to local units. The team will attend
district and chapter events per request and timeliness.
- Holding regular practices for the dual purpose of providing
accurate representation of Native American drumming and dancing
techniques and recruiting new members.
- Keeping the Lodge informed of their activities via reports at LEC
meetings and articles for Turtle Soup.
Committee members should attend Lodge and Council events, and the
committee should be represented at all LEC meetings.
Lodge Store Committee
This committee opens the Lodge store at Lodge functions, provides
adequate personnel to operate the store, keeps accurate records of its
items and sales, and tries to provide new and different items when
appropriate.
Some responsibilities include:
- Coordinating sales with the Council Scout Shop.
- Introducing new merchandise to the Lodge Store.
- Ensuring that all registration monies from Lodge events are
counted and deposited to the proper places.
- Maintaining an accurate inventory and adequate stock of necessary
items.
- Recruiting staff to run the store at Lodge events.
- Keeping the Lodge informed of their activities via reports at LEC
meetings and articles for Turtle Soup.
A member of the Lodge Store committee should attend Lodge events,
all events where the Lodge Store will be open, and all LEC meetings.
Founder's Award Committee

This committee meets annually to select any honorees for the
Founders' Award.
Some responsibilities include:
- Holding a selection meeting
- Completing all necessary paperwork for recipients of the award.
- Presenting recipients with the award at the Lodge Annual Banquet.
- Keeping the Lodge informed of their activities via reports at LEC
meetings and articles for Turtle Soup.
A member of the Founder's Award committee should attend Lodge events
and all LEC meetings.
OA Troop Representative Committee

This committee is responsible for promotion and maintenance of the
OA Troop Representative program.
Some responsibilities include:
- Developing a plan to register new OA troop representatives
throughout the Council.
- Communicating directly with each registered representative to
inform them of upcoming Lodge events.
- Contacting Scoutmasters and providing them with information
regarding the importance of the OATR program.
- Keeping the Lodge informed of their activities via reports at LEC
meetings and articles for Turtle Soup.
A member of the OA Troop Representative committee should attend
Lodge events and all LEC meetings.
Publications & Website Committee
This Committee oversees production of all Lodge publications and
maintains the Lodge Website.
Some responsibilities include:
- Gathering articles for Turtle Soup and producing layout,
proofreading and preparing them for mailing.
- Designing and maintaining the Lodge web page, and ensuring that
it follows all national policies pertaining to scout web pages.
- Preparing the Lodge newsletter and website for sectional and
national evaluations.
- Keeping the Lodge informed of their activities via reports at LEC
meetings and articles for Turtle Soup.
A member of the Publications and Website committee should attend
Lodge events and all LEC meetings.
Campership & Camp Promotion Committee

This committee is responsible for representing the Lodge's
commitment to camping.
Some responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the selection of eligible recipients for of the
Lodge's Campership funds via the Lenny Niman Memoral Campership.
- The committee will produce and mail materials to Scoutmasters for
proper applications for funding for partial camperships to be used for
a one week stay at PTC sponsored camps and follow-up as needed to
notify applicants of acceptance or refusal for funding.
- Developing of all Lodge Camp Promotional materials to be used in
unit camp promotions during elections.
- Developing other camp promotions material such as pamphlets, a
newsletter, or a video towards camp promotion.
- Working with the Website/Publications committee to update Turtle
Treks, our "Where to Go Camping" Guide.
- Keeping the Lodge informed of their activities via reports at LEC
meetings and articles for Turtle Soup.
A member of the Campership/Camp Promotion Committee should attend
Lodge events, all LEC meetings, and Council Outdoor Program Committee
meetings.
National Events Committee
This committee is in charge of promoting all National events.
Some responsibilities include:
- Preparing for the Lodge's contingent travel plans and making all
necessary arrangements for a successful National event.
- Promoting National High Adventure Programs at Philmont, the
Florida Sea Base, and the Northern Tier Canoe Base.
- Producing all mailings and informational documents in conjunction
with National OA promotional efforts.
- The Committee Chair will act as the Lodge Representative for
meetings, gatherings, and requests for information relating to National
events.
- Developing fundraising plans for National events and payment
schemes for Lodge members.
- Coordinating travel arrangements and payments and hold an
orientation for members prior to departure, and ensuring that all BSA
standards for group travel are met.
- Keeping the Lodge informed of their activities via reports at LEC
meetings and articles for Turtle Soup.
A member of the National Events committee should attend Lodge events
and all LEC meetings.
Fellowship & Functions Committee

This committee oversees fellowship at Lodge events and provides
services that may fall outside the responsibility of other committees,
i.e. movies at Ordeals.
Some responsibilities include:
- Developing a plan to increase fellowship at Lodge events,
particularly Ordeals.
- Coordinating with Lodge event organizers (LLD, the OPC, etc) to
provide services that boost spirit and fellowship at Lodge events.
- Keeping the Lodge informed of their activities via reports at LEC
meetings and articles for Turtle Soup.
A member of the Fellowship and Functions committee should attend all
Lodge events and LEC meetings.
Membership & Elections Committee

The Membership and Unit Elections committee oversees the election of
new members and retention of current members.
Some responsibilities include:
- Encouraging newly elected candidates to participate in their
Ordeals.
- Ensuring that all chapters have the training and materials in
order to conduct quality elections and supporting them in their efforts.
- Maintaining accurate records of election results for each
chapter.
- Providing membership and dues publications for the Lodge on a
yearly basis.
- Encouraging members to renew their dues each year and contacting
members who have lapsed in their dues.
- Advising the LEC on a plan to retain members.
- Coordinating with the Lodge Treasurer and Secretary for accurate
and timely tracking of membership registrations and dues.
- Considering adult nominations for approval for entry as members
of the Lodge.
- Coordinating with the Brotherhood Committee to encourage members
to seal their membership in the Lodge 10 months after their induction.
- Keeping the Lodge informed of their activities via reports at LEC
meetings and articles for Turtle Soup.
A member of the Membership and Elections committee should attend
Lodge events and all LEC meetings.
LLD Committee

effective Lodge Leadership Development (LLD) weekend.
Some responsibilities include:
- Arranging for facilities, a schedule of events, and training for
the LLD weekend

- Keeping the Lodge informed of their activities via reports at LEC
meetings and articles for Turtle Soup.
A member of the LLD committee should attend Lodge events and all LEC
meetings, and the LLD.
